Wine Review: This dark ruby colored Cabernet opens with a spicy black currant bouquet with a hint of blueberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, balanced, very smooth, and elegant. The flavor profile is a delicious spicy black currant with a hint of black raspberry and a good dose of black pepper. The finish is dry and its fine tannins make it very food friendly. Pair this yummy wine with American Shepherds pie in the near term. Enjoy - Ken
Winemaker Notes: This is the second year we produced Red Willow 1973 Block Cabernet Sauvignon. With the spectacular backdrop of Mt. Adams, the 1973 block is a beautiful, rocky outcropping at an elevation well above the Missoula flood plains. Planted in 1973, this section of the Sauer's vineyard is some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon in the Yakima Valley and the fruit from these mature vines showcases the unique terroir of this region. The 1973 Block Red Willow Cabernet Sauvignon is a stunning wine from the warm, rich and deep 2008 vintage. Flavors of Bing cherries, cranberries, saffron, dark chocolate, anise and sarsaparilla meld in a uniquely elegant wine with and incredible finish and refined texture.
